Kimzey Van Siclen

Kimzey Van Siclen

1961-01-28 2020-12-04
She was blonde, blue-eyed and blessed with a smile that always seemed as fresh and warm as a Malibu sunrise. Yet for anyone willing to look past the sunny California Girl image, Kimzey Van Siclen, who died earlier this month at the too-young age of 59, was so much more -- a fiercely loyal friend who gladly sacrificed her own needs to help others, a loving daughter who helped care for her own parents, Maragret and William, in their later years and a cherished (though sometimes vexing) "little sister" to the rest of Van Siclen clan.

Let the record show that Kimzey was born on Jan. 28, 1961 in downtown Los Angeles, stood just under five-and-a-half-feet tall and was named for her maternal grandmother, Margaret Amanda Kimzey Hightower. She loved stray cats, classic rock (especially The Eagles) and antique boxes -- the more ornately decorated the better. Though she never attended college, she was also a voracious reader whose knowledge of history, culture and current events was second to none.

Despite the Covid 19 pandemic, Kimzey's last days were spent in the loving company of friends and family -- some in person and some through the digital bonds of computers and cellphones. As soon as it becomes safe to travel again, many of those same people will gather to scatter her ashes at sea, as per her wishes.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or ASCPA in her memory.
